Piers Bronson's version was, but this film seems like a collection of scenes just stuck together and only a few of it 'new'. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology. No matter the product placement, the Nokia phones, the Heineken beer or most ridiculously, the Smirnoff, going into the vodka martini, Bond is Bond, and he’s out there, steely blue eyed, and doing murders on our behalf. The Bond music kicks in, (somewhat forgettable fayre) not only does the pace keep up, but also this one manages far more character development than most Bond films. It may not be the flashiest of soundtracks – it can’t compete with the blistering all-out attack of that big lizard, that giant ape and that Japanese city – but it’s a beautifully constructed and crafted soundtrack, with that wonderful sense of musicality a superb aural accompaniment for the equally superb visuals.

The habitual Aston Martins and that back in the day put the company the Country and the style back on the map . Well you either like the Bond Films or you don’t’ me Great escape at Christmas always and I’m afraid the Bonds go down that route . The pixel density of the native 4K image also gives a solidity to the images, that together with this fine detail gives real depth and texture to the image that is essentially best-in-class – check out Bond’s visit to Vesper’s graveside at the 13 min mark for a lovely example of this depth and detail working beautifully together to give us a stunning image even on large screen sizes.

But criticising a Bond film because it doesn’t have a deep and complex plot feels like criticising a fish for not breathing out of water. Thank you Zavvi for your excellent service, making sure it is packaged correctly and getting here safely and on time. In my opinion if Sean Connery had been Bond in OHMSS then we would all think it was the best Bond film ever. For more about No Time to Die 4K and the No Time to Die 4K Blu-ray release, see No Time to Die 4K Blu-ray Review published by Martin Liebman on December 9, 2021 where this Blu-ray release scored 4. James Bond (Daniel Craig) has retired from service and is trying to put a life together with his longtime love Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux). Home Entertainment's Dune (2021) remained on top of both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its third week. Lines are razor sharp and how they show the minutiae of the image, from clothing textures to the fine lines on Craig’s craggy features is superb.
