Killer Klowns is loaded with all the tongue-in-cheek goofiness you'd expect from three brothers who created stop-motion horror movies as kids and continued doing what they loved into adulthood. The audio, on the other hand, never reaches the same heights -- but any obvious problems here are likely source-related, so it's tough to be too critical. There's so much to like about this film: the special effects, sight gags, (mostly) straight-laced performances, music, set design.Contrast and brightness are stronger and more stable, but the image is generally flat and never really pops off the screen.

Not too surprising was that they still had a limited budget so they had to find many workarounds regarding effects to get the film to reflect their vision as closely as possible. There can no longer be any doubt – the Killer Klowns from Outer Space are here and they’re out to turn the Earth’s population into candy floss! With the sheriff (John Allen Nelson) convinced of the creepy threat these clowns pose, Cramer and he are on the rescue while mean-spirited Officer Mooney (John Vernon) remains a non-believer, leading to his own demise as a ventriloquist dummy. Killer Klowns from Outer Space is silly, but the work that went into it is there on screen, warts and all. This isn’t your typical Orville Redenbacher variety though; this is living-alien popcorn that has nefarious plans of its own. Update: A helpful member has alerted me that the "Holy Smoke" snippet is available as an Easter Egg. Meanwhile, the harvested humans are slowly being turned into cotton candy and the clowns are reeking havoc on the small town, one deadly sideshow trick at a time. No one specific drive-in feature serves as inspiration, but rather, it comes from the collective memories of those films and captures the spirit of the era while forging into slapstick excess.

Each iconic movie will be decked out with an all-new, limited-edition artist-rendered faceplate by Skuzzl . The Making of Killer Klowns (SD, 22 min) — Combining BTS footage from the original production with a more recent interview of the Chiodo Brothers, this featurette functions more like a discussion and look back at the making of the movie than a straightforward doc. The title creatures and their over-the-top, murderous antics are about as close as practical, (mostly) in-camera effects have ever gotten to re-creating the visual tones of animation. There can no longer be any doubt - the Killer Klowns from Outer Space are here and they re out to turn the population into candy floss!But if you've watched a lot of films because of their alluringly outrageous titles, you're probably used to being disappointed. I mean, giving MGM the benefit of the doubt, that was probably due to older scans being less able to pick the finery out than an attempt to scrub the grain away at the expense of detail. Also nice is the fact all six films are presented in high-definition and, despite some source issues, they all look rather spectaculat!

The space invaders are actually hideous-looking monsters with grimy, yellow teeth and the most disturbingly sinister smiles. of those old Judy Garland — Mickey Rooney vehicles where the kids realize they have a vacant barn, so why not put on a show. And the colors aren't very different from their predecessors (and still no blue filter), but they do look truer.The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies is actually an excruciating exercise in tedium. This edition also includes a cool, double-sided Killer Klowns poster, a nice lenticular slipcover and reversible artwork. So, in the words of the film s opening theme song, hop aboard the nightmare merry-go-round and brace yourself for a cinematic experience unparalleled in this galaxy!
