A funny, insightful, properly swoony rom-com, Before I Do genuinely had me stumped as to which way Audrey would go, and perplexed as to what I wanted her to do. Some books are a bit slow, but then have a good ending that makes you forget the initial slow start. It was the book equivalent of those cringey tumblr stories that all end with “and then everyone on the plane clapped” and aren’t remotely realistic.

Sophie Cousens worked in TV in London for over twelve years, producing shows such as The Graham Norton Show, Big Brother and Russell Howard's Good News. There are a whole series of events where things go wrong in the lead up to the wedding which would be funny if they weren't potentially so serious. Apparently, I can’t handle wedding-centric books, or at least not ones involving dysfunctional people.I really felt Audrey's anguish throughout, it had me going backwards and forwards between the two men. The book actually reminded me a little of Written in the Stars by Ali Harris, which had a similar concept, albeit which I thought was done better.

Then Audrey meets Josh, “Bad Jeans Josh” as she refers to him and though she has absolutely no interest in him, they keep being thrown together, and then all of a sudden it happens. Before I do is a deep dive into the what if questions that are often asked at different times of our lives. So funny enough I could have used this for a Cannonball 14 bingo because of the constant discussion of stars, who knew. A must-read that will make you laugh out loud and take a breath in equal measure and you will not be able to put this book down.Unfortunately, I really didn’t care for the main character, and it’s not common that that happens for me when I’m reading.

Her only consolation is its irresistible contents; from piano sheet-music to a battered copy of her favourite book, Laura finds in the bag evidence of everything she could hope for in a partner. guy, the man she met six years ago and had one amazing day with but never saw again – Audrey can’t help but see it as a sign. For those who don't know, I was still using my Kindle Keyboard 2, something I have literally had since 2011 (yes, it's twelve years old and yes it still works). But I think that’s because I am always here for the *drama*, and this story definitely had plenty of that. Cousens injects her book with some great moments of humour, plenty of warmth and some genuinely touching moments too, such as when Audrey reads the last letter her Dad wrote to her. Readers will be especially drawn to Audrey, a woman unafraid to chase her own happiness and face challenges head-on.
