I don't see why Nintendo has to "phase out" the Switch in favor of newer hardware. Like it or not, the Switch will sell regardless of its specs, as long as new games are being released for it. In the past, Nintendo found it necessary to upgrade to newer hardware for one reason or another, but now that the Switch is in a comfortable place in the industry and doesn't have significant competition coming from any other companies, I don't see why Nintendo has to ever abandon the old install base. It's different for Microsoft and Sony, because they are in stiff competition and each have to bring something new to the table every generation, lest they be left behind and overtaken by the other company. Nintendo, having carved their own niche in the industry, doesn't need to worry about this. Plus, as the game library grows, it becomes more and more risky for other companies to challenge them. If they were to move onto a new generation, this advantage would be gone. In the Splatoon 3 game, you’ll engage in chaotic 4-v-4 Turf War** clashes across a mix of new and returning stages, where teams face off to cover the most ground in their ink to win, and discover features, weapons and the trendiest gear this side of the sun. Splatoon 3 also features a single-player campaign and the next iteration of the co-op Salmon Run mode. Join Agent 3 in the single-player story mode for a fight against the unruly Octarians and discover the secrets of a mysterious place called Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze. When diving into Salmon Run, you’ll ink up with teammates** to fend off waves of dangerous Salmonid bosses, some of which are colossal in size! Note: This is not available in the Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere. Splatfest Main Event: First Half Before the Splatfest begins, raise your catalog level by battling and working Salmon Run shifts to receive conch shells, which impact the final Splatfest results. Original Article: Nintendo has unveiled a special Splatoon 3-themed Switch OLED console that looks perfect for fans of the series – and anyone who just wants to add a seriously cool Switch to their collection. Splatfests return in Splatoon 3 with a fresh twist! Vote for one of three teams in an announced theme and splat it out for superiority. Splatfest Sneak Peek Splatfests return in Splatoon 3 with a fresh twist! Vote for one of three teams in an announced theme and splat it out for superiority. Splatfest Sneak Peek The wonderful thing about Splatoon is its welcoming nature. Most players you encounter in multiplayer go swimming off immediately in search of opponents to splat, but if you don’t have much appetite for competition, you can still contribute valuably to your team by busting out a giant paint-roller and diligently decorating your home base. Like Fortnite, it is a fun, competitive shooter without any of the performative violence or militarisation that used to dominate the genre. And it is popular – especially in its native Japan, where it has sold 3m copies in three days.

Note: This is not available in the Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere. Splatfest Main Event: First Half Use inky new abilities and weapons to compete, cooperate, or clear up the mystery of the Fuzzy Ooze What a looker, huh? Fight for your chosen cause in a 4 vs. 4 Turf War battle, which you can join solo or in groups of two to four people. Gain Clout, which impacts the final outcome, based on wins, losses and points from inking turf. Splatfest Main Event: Second Half The second half heralds the arrival of Tricolor Turf War, where four players on the first-place team are challenged by two players each from the runner-up teams. The team that inks the largest area in three minutes wins. Ultra Signal and Sprinkler of Doom
